His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamigal was a renowned Jivanmukta and a scholar par excellence in Tarka and Vedanta. He was a rare sage who renounced the world and took Sannyasa before completing 14 years of age. His Holiness engaged in intense spiritual practices right from the day of His Sannyasa and these culminated in His full realization of and steadfast establishment in the Supreme Brahman. Before He was 20, He became a great Jivanmukta.
He adorned the sacred Sringeri Sharada Peetham and brought great glory to it during the 35 years of His pontificate. The very embodiment of compassion, His Holiness graced innumerable devotees in myriads of ways. His benedictory addresses were characterized by lucidity, cogency, practicality, humour and accurate exposition of the intricacies of the scriptures.
